Meet Dr. Lovell

Allison Lovell, M.D. is originally from Greenwich, Connecticut and attended Manhattanville College (Purchase, NY), graduating with a BA in Biology (Cum Laude) in just 3 years.  Upon graduation, she worked at the internationally renown Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute in NYC doing research there and at the Mt. Sinai Hospital.  This work stimulated her interest in clinical medicine so she concurrently enrolled at Columbia University in NYC to complete her pre-medical/cellular biology educational requirements.

She received her medical training at St. George's University School of Medicine, headquartered in Bay Shore, New York and did her post-graduate training in Internal Medicine through the Yale University residency program and received her Board-Certification in Internal Medicine after successfully taking the required board examinations.

Dr. Lovell has worked with local medical groups over the years and also served as a staff physician for Indian Health Services at  Rincon where she ran the pre-natal clinic in conjunction with obstetricians from the Sharp Mary Birch Hospital.  Her skills with ultrasound and as a Radiographic Supervisor came in very handy there.  She also served as the sole physician at the Rural Health Clinic in Borrego Springs where she learned more about the Life Flight system than she probably wanted!  Most recently, she worked at the San Marcos satellite office of the Graybill Medical Group.

In addition to her internal medicine training, she has gained good experience in the fields of occupational and urgent care medicine (and had worked with Drs. Pearson, Booth, and Shimmin at the Industrial & Sports Medical Center in the 1990's).  She is very comfortable caring for typical childhood ailments, as well.

She is energetic and passionate about her profession.  Her attention to detail and her dedication to her patients compliments her warm and caring personality.  Philosophically,  she partners with her patients and teaches them about their conditions as she believes that this facilitates better management of their health issues. Adolescent medicine and women's issues are among her strengths.

She is the mother of two great sons (who are aspiring actors) and her interests include tennis, bicycling, and hiking and off-roading.
